Have you ever noticed the names you call yourself when things don’t work out or go the way you want? The way that you belittle or admonish yourself when you make a mistake?  We all want to grow and be the best version of ourselves, but when we do submit to negative self-talk, we’re really encouraging these very things to continue to take place in our lives.  While we are not always able to control each and everything that takes place in our lives, every obstacle that we may face, we can control what we do as a result of those things.  What we can do is speak life into ourselves and those we love, reaffirm our greatness. These positive words that we speak into existence are called affirmations.

How to use Affirmations:

Keep in mind that affirmations should be spoken only in the present tense. They work best in this way.  The past has already occurred and the future is not yet here.  What you can affect is now.

Here are the tips for using affirmations in the most effective way:

Tip 1: Choose positivity.   Search for affirmations that speak to your heart.  These should be phrases or statements that are uplifting and boost positivity. They should affirm who you are, what you believe, and what you want for yourself.  If the affirmations about changing, they should be about changes you want to make in your own life.  If you don’t find any that meet your needs, create your own.

Tip 2: Speak in the now rather than in the future.  What do you will for yourself now?  The future is inevitable. If your sole focus is on the future, you won’t do the work in the now to accomplish your goals.  You’ll get to the future without having made much of any progress.

Tip 3: Keep an affirmation journal or planner and write down the affirmation(s) that you want to focus on.  Try writing one affirmation in your journal entry each day.  Then write about what that affirmation means to you.  This can be just 2-3 sentences.  Do this each morning when you rise.   If you don’t enough time before you have to start your day, try waking up 30 minutes to an hour earlier so that you can do this.

Tip 4: Speak the affirmation out loud, each and every day.  Writing your affirmations and speaking them out loud go hand in hand.  Say them as you are writing them.  Say them in front of the mirror while you are dressing in the morning.  Say them in your car on your way to work.  Say them while you’re standing in line at the grocery store.  Say them when you’re laying in bed at night.    Affirmations should be repeated each chance you get. Create a ritual for yourself.

Tip 5: Visualize that the affirmation is already true for you.  Act as if you have what you desire within your grasp.  See it in real-time.  How does it feel?  How does it smell?  What does it taste like?  This is how you can manifest it into reality and have what you wish for.

Tip 6: Each day is an opportunity to start fresh and reaffirm what you want and build positive energy for yourself.  No matter where you may have come up short on the previous day, you can give yourself a new slate to push through for what you want.

Tools to Use:

When we speak life into ourselves, we not only encourage the universe to make a positive impact on our daily lives, but we also encourage the universe to conspire to make our wildest dreams come true.  These simple words are some of the most powerful tools that we can use for our own personal transformations and achieving our goals.
